About BoxToBox Fantasy
What is BoxToBox Fantasy?
BoxToBox Fantasy is a free draft-style fantasy soccer game for the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1. You and your friends snake-draft 17-player squads, each player can belong to only one team in your league, and you play one other team head to head every gameweek. Points cover the whole match: goals and assists, but also tackles, passes, chances created and saves.
Is BoxToBox Fantasy free?
Yes. Creating a league, joining one, drafting and playing a full season are all free. Premium (Ad-Free and Advanced Analytics) and cosmetics are optional extras, and nothing you can buy affects trades, waivers, scoring or results.
How is BoxToBox different from Fantasy Premier League?
Fantasy Premier League is a salary-cap game: every manager gets the same budget, thousands of managers can own the same player, and you mostly chase an overall leaderboard. BoxToBox is a draft league: managers take turns picking, each player belongs to one team, and you face one friend each week. Its player pool also covers all five of Europe's big leagues, not only the Premier League.
Which leagues can I draft players from?
The Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1. A league uses all five by default, and the commissioner can narrow it to any mix of them, such as the Premier League only, until the draft starts.
How many teams can be in a league?
Anywhere from 2 to 20, with 10 as the default. Odd numbers work too: each week the team without an opponent plays the league average, and the result counts.
Can I practise with a mock draft?
Yes. A mock draft against bots is free, takes a couple of minutes and needs no account.
Getting Started
Is there a minimum age to sign up?
Yes — 13 in Canada and the US, and 16 everywhere else for now. Each country's minimum is set separately as BoxToBox expands, so it may change as new markets open.
Can I start a league midseason?
Yes. If you show up partway through a season you can either start a new league right away with a midseason draft, or opt in to be notified when the next full season opens.
Are there keeper or dynasty leagues?
Not yet, but they're in development: leagues where you keep some of your players from one season to the next. We'd love to hear what you want from them. Send us your ideas through the Feedback button.
Are there category leagues, like 9-cat in fantasy basketball?
Not yet, but they're in development. Instead of fantasy points, your starting lineup goes head to head each week across nine stat categories: goal involvements, shot accuracy, key passes, tackles won, interceptions, aerials won, dribbles, pass completion and saves. We'd love to hear what you want from them. Send us your ideas through the Feedback button.
Scoring & Gameplay
Can I run a league with an odd number of members?
Yes — a league can have any number of teams, odd or even. In an odd-numbered league, whichever team doesn't have a pairing that week gets a bye: instead of sitting idle, their score is measured against the league average for that gameweek, and it counts fully toward the standings, just like a real result.
What are Player Boosts?
Once per gameweek, you back one of your starters to hit a stat target in his match — Destroyer, Talisman, Playmaker, Metronome, or Diamond. Hit it and you get bonus points; miss it and you lose some. Diamond is the highest-risk, highest-reward of the five, and can only go on a player drafted after pick 50.
How many boosts can I use per week?
One per gameweek, placed on one of your starters. You can change or remove it until his match kicks off, and your commissioner can turn Boosts on or off for the league.
Draft Scheduling
What is Draft Scheduling?
A way for your league to agree a draft time without a group chat. Every manager marks when they're free, the league sees where everyone overlaps, and the app helps turn that into a draft time.
How does Draft Scheduling work?
Managers mark the hours they could draft over the next two weeks (it extends to four if nothing fits). Once everyone in a full league has answered, the app proposes the time the most managers can make and asks everyone to vote yes or no. If every manager says yes, the draft is scheduled and starts automatically at that time. Managers who haven't answered get a daily reminder. The commissioner can also pick a time straight from the grid, or poll the league on any hour.
Is Draft Scheduling free?
Yes, for every league in its first season. The commissioner setting a draft time by hand is always free, in any season.
What happens to Draft Scheduling next season?
When a league is renewed for another season, Draft Scheduling becomes part of League Premium. Without League Premium the availability grid, the league vote and the reminders are locked for that season, and the commissioner sets the draft time by hand.
How do I unlock Draft Scheduling in a renewed league?
With League Premium, which one manager buys for the whole league for a season. It also gives every manager in the league Ad-Free, Advanced Analytics and Ask the community. The individual Ad-Free and Premium Member passes don't unlock Draft Scheduling.
League Premium
What does League Premium include?
Ad-Free, Advanced Analytics, Ask the community and Draft Scheduling, for every team in the league, for that league's season. It costs CA$105 per league per season, with tax added on top. You'll see the price in your own currency before you pay.
Who can buy League Premium?
Any manager with a team in the league, not only the commissioner. One payment unlocks every team, and the league sees who unlocked it. If the league already has it, or another manager is in the middle of buying it, you're stopped before you pay.
Does League Premium renew?
No. It lasts for that league's season and nothing is charged again by itself. A league that's renewed for another season starts without it, and someone in the league buys it again if you want it for the new season.
How do refunds work for League Premium?
League Premium follows the same refund terms as our other purchases, which are in the Terms of Service. Purchases made in the app are refunded by Apple or Google, not by us. If a League Premium payment is refunded or disputed, its features lock again for the whole league. If two managers ever pay for the same league, the second payment on the website is refunded automatically.
How do I split the cost with my league?
After you buy, open League Premium in your league and choose Split the cost. The amount you paid, tax included, is divided evenly across the teams in your league, and you choose how to be paid back: Interac e-Transfer, a handle such as PayPal.me, or in person. Each manager sees their share and taps "I've paid", and you confirm it. Managers settle up outside BoxToBox: we only keep track, and we don't process or guarantee those payments.
Coins & Cosmetics
What are Coins, and how do they differ from Premium?
Coins are a separate, cosmetics-only currency for your team's look — avatar designs, buddies, banners, theme kits, monograms, name styles, badges and win confetti. You earn them by playing, sharing and watching ads (coin bundles are coming soon), and they can never unlock Premium features or anything that affects your actual team.
Can I buy my way to a better team?
No. Nothing purchasable — with real money or Coins — touches trades, waivers, boosts, scoring, or any competitive mechanic. That's a hard rule, not a guideline.
How do I earn Coins?
10 for your daily login; 30 for a matchup win and 15 for a tie; 10 for each rewarded ad you watch in the app, plus a 25-Coin bonus at your 5th of the day; 20 the first time you share a card's link (up to 3 cards a day), plus 10 for each new visitor who opens it (up to 25 per card); and 150 when a friend you referred plays their first gameweek (up to 5 friends a month).
Money Leagues
Can my league play for real money?
No. BoxToBox has no entry fees and no cash prizes. A paid league with a prize pool is regulated as a prize competition in many places, so it stays off everywhere unless that changes after legal review, country by country.
Account & Data
Where do the stats come from?
Official match and player data from a licensed sports-data provider, covering all five leagues. During matches, live scores update every couple of minutes.
Is my data sold to advertisers?
No. We don't sell your personal information. Ads are served by Google (AdSense on the website, AdMob in the app) according to the consent choices you make. Your birthdate and gender are never shown to anyone and are only used in anonymous, combined totals, which we may share with advertisers or sponsors. The Privacy Policy has the details.
International
Is BoxToBox available outside Canada and the US?
You can sign up from anywhere (16 is the minimum age outside Canada and the US), but BoxToBox is built for Canada and the US for now: it's in English and Canadian French, and prices are in Canadian dollars. The UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy are next, with local pricing, language and legal review handled market by market as each one launches.
Will the app be available in other languages?
Yes. The site and the app are already in English and Canadian French. The groundwork is in place — every screen's text runs through translation catalogs — and other languages, such as German, Italian and Spanish, could follow ahead of launching in those markets.
